dr. Zita Bognár, MD, PhD. MBA

Zita Bognar graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Pécs in 2002 as a general practitioner. She then joined the Institute of Biochemistry and Medical Chemistry as a PhD student, where she has been working ever since. In the year 2004, she received her Master of Business Administration degree from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Pécs. She obtained her PhD in 2007 and her habilitation degree in 2018. For several years, she has been studying the effects of various compounds on signal transduction pathways, mitochondria, and metabolism, with a particular focus on tumor cells. In her work, she has placed particular emphasis on investigating the antitumor effects of the well-known antiarrhythmic agent amiodarone and its metabolite desethylamiodarone.
