Biography:

Damir Baranašić is a molecular biologist and bioinformatician born in Rijeka, Croatia (1987). He holds a double master’s degree in Molecular Biotechnology and Bioindustrial Techniques from the University of Zagreb and the University of Orléans. He earned his PhD at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern (2016) and completed postdoctoral training at Imperial College London (2017–2023), developing advanced computational methods to study regulatory elements. Since 2023, he leads his own research group at the Ruđer Bošković Institute, focusing on evolutionary and functional genomics and computational analysis of gene regulation.
